Copperhead's office is located in historic Paint Lick Kentucky, approximately 10 miles south of Richmond and 8 miles west of Berea. The two-story brick building was built circa 1903 as a country store where locals came to purchase everyday supplies and livestock feed. At one time it was attached to the adjacent building by two archways (that we uncovered while tearing off the wood paneling to expose the original brick), but is now separated. The building offers 3,750 square feet, with 1,875 square feet of space on each floor. Currently, the downstairs area is home to our employees neatly kept desks, library, field equipment, and various tools of the trade. Upstairs is home to our kitchen, full bath, dining area, map room, more equipment, and our snail and small mammal lab.
With any structure over 100 years old, upgrades and improvements are a must. We are in the process of making the building more energy efficient by adding central heat and air, a solar hot water heater, new insulation, and a new roof. Please stop by and visit us if you are ever in the neighborhood.
