As a relatively recent addition to Team Copperhead, Jeff Hawkins brings nine years of field experience conducting surveys of natural resources. He has worked with a variety of taxa, including birds, bats (and other small mammals), aquatic insects, and plants. He has experience in mist netting, identifying, processing, and radiotracking all eastern chiropterans including federally endangered Indiana and gray bats. Jeff routinely participates in scientific writing, and has authored numerous technical reports and papers written in support of NEPA, ESA, and other permitting applications.
Jeff has also been an avid birdwatcher for many years having participated in many avian research projects (over 5 summers) while pursuing his B.S. in Wildlife Management at Eastern Kentucky University. He has completed bird surveys professionally and is currently working on his Master's thesis entitled "Hunger and the relative begging behavior of offspring white-eyed vireos."
Born a Libra during the Summer of Love, Jeff is an avid bicyclist and foosballer with many other interests including camping, canoeing, Vizsla subservience, and other people's business.
